Mission
🌱 Growth | 🧠 Critical Thinking | ❤️ Compassion | 🌐 Unity
At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that celebrates the rich tapestry of human cultures. We strive to equip young minds with a profound understanding and appreciation for diversity, fostering empathy and respect for individuals from all walks of life. By immersing children in a multicultural experience, we empower them to become knowledgeable, compassionate, and globally-minded citizens.
Nurturing Young Minds | Celebrating Shared Humanity
Through a comprehensive curriculum that incorporates diverse perspectives and experiences, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals who possess the skills and knowledge to navigate an increasingly interconnected world. By engaging students in meaningful cross-cultural interactions and projects, we inspire them to think critically, problem-solve creatively, and collaborate effectively with others. Our goal is to foster a deep sense of curiosity and a lifelong passion for learning about different cultures.
Guiding Priciples
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide a framework for global progress, calling on all nations to pursue prosperity while safeguarding the planet. Meiflower embraces these 17 goals, with a particular focus on Goal 4: Quality Education—empowering children through learning.
Meiflower specifically aims to promote goal 4.7:
By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.

Programs (K-8)
Media, Information & AI Literacy
We empower young learners and their families to become critical thinkers in today’s media-saturated world. Our programs build the skills needed to question online content, spot misinformation, understand how algorithms and AI shape information, and engage thoughtfully with digital tools. These competencies are essential for children navigating a complex and rapidly changing digital environment.Multicultural Education
Understanding and respecting diversity is foundational to thriving in a global society. Through storytelling, cultural exploration, and collaborative learning, we help children and families appreciate multiple perspectives, challenge stereotypes, and build inclusive communities. Multicultural education at Meiflower strengthens empathy and prepares children to work across differences with confidence and care.Sustainability Thinking
Children today must be equipped to think systematically about the future. Our sustainability education connects environmental, social, and economic awareness through hands-on, creative learning. From nature journaling and art-based reflection to understanding fairness and resource sharing, we cultivate an early awareness of the values, behaviors, and responsibilities needed to support a just and sustainable future in alignment with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.About
Mei. Flower.
(From the Founder)
“Mei” in Chinese is “美,” which means beauty and grace.
America is “美国,” pronounced “Měiguó.” This genius translation works for both the sound and the meaning – “a beautiful country.”

My Chinese name is “Mei” (梅), which means plum blossom—a flower that blooms in the harshest winters. I was born during the coldest time of the year, and my mother told me that when she looked out the window after my birth, the only flowers she could see were the delicate yet resilient plum blossoms.
She wove her hopes into my name, wishing for me to grow into a strong and enduring woman, someone who could thrive even in the face of adversity, just like the bright pink petals that bloom against the coldness. Her wish for me wasn’t just a name; it was a legacy of strength, perseverance, and beauty in challenging times.
When I became a mother, I carried this tradition forward. My daughters also have “Mei / 美” as part of their middle names, symbolizing “beauty” but with a unique connection to the country, the US (Měiguó), where they were born. Just like my mother did for me, I embedded my deepest wishes for them into their names, crafting a personal story and a guiding light for their futures. Futhermore, my husband's Swedish background, combined with my Chinese heritage, have brought us a unique opportunity to bring up our American children to have a truly global perspective.
This connection across generations, woven through names and meaning, is at the heart of Meiflower’s mission: fostering resilience, growth, and harmony through cultural exchange and critical thinking. Like plum blossoms thriving in winter, we believe that embracing diversity and shared understanding empowers individuals to bloom, creating a brighter, more unified future for humanity.
Get Involved
Our mission is to cultivate young minds with a global perspective, instilling a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and fostering empathy for people from all walks of life. To achieve this ambitious goal, we need your support. Parents, you are the cornerstone of your child's education, and your involvement is crucial in shaping their worldview.
By working together, we can create a vibrant learning environment where children explore different cultures through language, art, music, and literature. We envision a community where parents actively participate in cultural events, share their heritage with fellow parents and students, and volunteer their time to enrich our programs.
Your contributions, no matter how big or small, can make a significant impact on our children's future. Whether it's sharing a family recipe, leading a cultural workshop, or simply attending school events, your involvement will help us create a more inclusive and understanding world for generations to come.
Our approach to getting parents engaged:
- Organize parent-children workshops
- Moderate parent discussion forums in media literacy
- Make accessible resources available
- Build a strong parent community of support
Join us in this exciting journey to empower our children to become compassionate, informed, and global citizens.
